Hello everyone!
I hope you had a great week, I for one am very happy to have started this publishing project and have incorporated many talented artists into this community. I'm excited to constantly create material for you and also share some personal thoughts or ideas on Mondays.
I always heard that after having a baby, taking a shower or brushing your teeth calmly were important achievements in the day to day of a postpartum woman, and I always thought that was an exaggeration. I confess that I underestimated the whole process of motherhood before living it, but when I saw myself with a newborn and I verified that if the lack of time was real, with the passing of the months, that feeling of not being able to do anything that I did earlier started to affect my mental health and I had to lower my productivity standards.
It was a difficult battle, it still is, but something that has helped me a lot is becoming aware of the power of habits and how in this small work we can transform ourselves into the people we want to be. I bought the book “Atomic Habits” by Jean Clear and every time I breastfeed my baby, which is many times a day, I read a chapter. My intention is not to promote the book or narrate it in this post, I just want to share with you how important it has been for me to understand that our little daily rituals are what form our identity.
If I want to be a dancer I have to have the habit of dancing, if I want to be a clean person I have to have good hygiene habits, if I want to be generous I have to have the habit of giving to others, if I want to be a cartoonist I have to have the habit to draw, and although the problem today is that I am not very clear about who I want to be, the only certainty I have is that I am the mother of my beautiful baby. If I want to be his mom I have to get in the habit of taking care of him and that's what I do every day.
I am Onni's mother and everything else that was no longer is or is being built little by little in small habits, in these small weekly publications, in a video on Wednesdays or in the reference photos on Fridays, here I am appearing from new; I exist in the small habit of writing a paragraph every day in the hope of becoming again.
